Try this pumpkin spice cocktail made with maple liqueur and grappa for a true taste of Vermont in the fall.

The crisp air of autumn brings with it the scents and flavors we crave—warm spices, rich aromas, and the irresistible appeal of pumpkin spice.

This fall cocktail combines the earthy sweetness of pure pumpkin, a hint of pumpkin spice, and the richness of local maple syrup—all complemented by the bold character of grappa and the smooth finish of maple liqueur.

This cocktail isn’t just about the taste—it’s about the story. A story of locally sourced ingredients and craftsmanship. It’ll have everyone you share it with asking, “How did you make this?”

What is Grappa?

Grappa is a traditional Italian spirit distilled from the skins, seeds, and stems left over after winemaking. Known for its complex flavors, grappa can range from fruity and delicate to robust and fiery, making it a favorite for those who enjoy craft spirits. When paired with other seasonal flavors like pumpkin and maple, grappa adds depth and balance.

At Snow Farm Vineyard & Distillery, our grappa is made from the leftover skins and stems from winemaking. This helps us utilize everything we grow to its highest purpose.  Once pressed, the stems and skins from our Cayuga grapes are fermented and quickly distilled to produce grappa. Our grappa is surprisingly smooth and aromatic and can be served alone or replace gin in a cocktail.

Pairing Maple and Pumpkin

Adding pure pumpkin and maple syrup brings a natural richness to the cocktail that elevates its autumnal flavors. Pumpkin adds a creamy texture, while maple syrup enhances the sweetness without overpowering the drink.

The maple liqueur in the recipe is made by us at Snow Farm Vineyard & Distillery at our Vermont maple sugarbush where we grow and care for thousands of maple trees.

Maple liqueur adds another layer of Vermont’s heritage to the mix, blending smoothly with the grappa and spices.

Garnish with a cinnamon stick and apple slice.
